A small art nouveau bronze bust of a woman on stand by sculptor Prof. Amedeo Neri and cast by Aktien-Ges. Vorm. H. Gladenbeck & Sohn signed 1902.  The words “Aktien-Ges. Vorm. H. Gladenbeck & Sohn” translate as “Aktien Company, formerly H. Gladenbeck & Son.” The company made monumental statues as well as smaller figures in bronze.  The company was located in Berlin and operated from 1851 to 1926.

Beautiful Pompeian Bronze Company Bookends of the "The Sculptor" from 1920's in art deco/nouveau style.  These bookends were made by the Pompeian Bronze Company of Brooklyn, NY during the 1920's.  They copyrighted this set as named "The Sculptor" in 1921.  Each bookend features an ancient Greek style nude figure wearing the traditional cloth and holding a mallet in his right hand. These bookends are made probably of spelter and are in very good condition considering that they are now 100 years old. Joan of Arc or Jeanne d'Arc in French (1412 – 30 May 1431) is considered a French heroine for her role in the Hundred Years war against the English occupation of France.  Joan of Arc was captured and burnt at the stake by the English.  She was later canonized by the Roman Catholic church as a saint. This beautiful gun grade metal sculpture of Joan of Arc in an art nouveau style shows in great detail her armor and chain of armor suit beneath and her beautiful face expression.  She is wearing a golden laurel, holding a sword in her right hand and spear in her left.  At the base her helmet and crossbow can be seen. Jeanne D’Arc 1899 Printing Block Plates Set

This is a rare display of an 1899 advertisement poster from the theatre play Jeanne D'Arc played by French stage actress Sarah Bernhard, at one point in time she was considered the most famous actress in the world, and illustrated by Swiss artist Eugene Grasset, credited in introducing the Art Nouveau style to the United States.  The display features from left to right the black and white plate, the brass printing plate and the advertisement itself in full color.  This is a rare and unique find since these items are hardly sold together. The plaque at the bottom reads: Jeanne D'Arc - 1899 Vintage French Poster - Gicle'e Print This vintage French poster is an example of "Affiche Artistic", advertising Sarah Bernhardt's performance in Jeanne D'Arc.  The artist was Eugene Grasset and the poster was published in 1899. The Knight of Verona is a gilded bronze sculpture of "Cangrande I della Scalla", an Italian nobleman, belonging to the della Scala family which ruled Verona from 1308 until 1387.  Della Scalla was an acclaimed warrior and autocrat becoming sole ruler of Verona in 1311 to his death in 1329.  The Knight of Verona statue features Cangrande with his helmet, armor and drawn sword on his horse which is draped in cloth on a marble base.  The sculpture was made by Hans Muller of Austria (1873-1937) and signed, famous for his bronze sculptures of famous individuals as well as everyday life.  The original statue is currently at the Castelvecchio castle, in Verona, Italy. The Motherland Calls or in literal translation from Russian: Homeland-Mother Is Calling! is a statue of a woman stepping forward with a raised sword representing the Soviet or Russian Motherland calling on its sons and daughters to repulse the enemy and return to the attack.  This Soviet era sculpture which started construction in May 1959 and completed on 15 October 1967 is the compositional center of the monument-ensemble "Heroes of the Battle of Stalingrad" on Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd, Russia.  It was designed by sculptor Yevgeny Vuchetich and structural engineer Nikolai Nikitin, and declared the tallest statue in the world in 1967 when complete.  At 85 m (279 ft), it is the tallest statue in Europe, the tallest outside of Asia and the tallest statue (excluding pedestals) of a woman in the world. This Motherland Calls sculpture by Yevgeny Vuchetich is a beautiful representation of Soviet art with an art nuevo twist.
